Local Offer

The Local offer provides information about the services we offer at Rusper Playgroup for young children who have special educational needs and/or any disabilities. At Rusper playgroup we strive to meet the needs of all children by providing an environment where all children can reach their full potential.
We aim to support children to become confident and independent individuals, who are
able to communicate their own feelings and views. We have a designated member of staff to be our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO).

 

The SENCO works closely with all colleagues and has the responsibility of the day-to-day operation of supporting our children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We ensure all members of staff are informed about children with SEN and all have a responsibility to ensure their needs are met. Rusper playgroup is an inclusive setting with a wealth of experience in supporting children with individual needs, ensuring they can take part in all activities.

Every child is treated as an individual and each child has a key person, the key person will develop a trusting relationship with the child and their parents and will use observations to plan for the child’s next steps to ensure the child’s individual needs are met and they continue to develop in all areas of the early years foundation stage. Through doing observations Rusper Playgroup are able to identify any concerns which we will share with you, if you have any concerns about your child you should speak to your child’s key person who will advise you further. They will work with you and your child and this relationship will ensure we share any knowledge concerning your child and their development. This knowledge starts from your first visit to Rusper Playgroup, here you can discuss any concerns you may have about your child and share any information with us about your child’s interests. This will help us share your child’s strengths and needs and allow us to plan using their interests to ensure they are engaged with activities. Any information will be shared with our SENCO to ensure your child is supported throughout their time at Rusper Playgroup.

Each child with additional needs will have a One Page Profile to outline their needs, interests and strengths. They will also have individual play plans to ensure their developmental needs are met. These will be done with you, their key person and our SENCO. Children are at the heart of all we do at Rusper Playgroup, and we will work with you to support your child together, listening to you and your child. If your child needs support from other agencies we will work together with them and ensure all information is shared with you. We liaise and work with external agencies to help improve outcomes for your child.
